My Thoughts and Review

The Parable Treasury written by Liz Curtis Higgs is a children's book which compiles four fantastic full-length stories into one collection using a parable format. It is suitable for children between the ages of 4-8. The hardcover padded book contains 117-pages. Each story sets during a particular season or holiday. The high-quality beautiful illustrations are vibrantly colorful. These adorable illustrations will easily appeal to children and adults alike.

The "Table of Contents" at the beginning of the treasury lists the title of and page number for each story. A "Letter to Parents" follows. Each story begins with a page dedicated to the title of the story being told. The author chose an easy to read format which utilizes a larger print throughout the stories and an italicized font for referenced Scriptures noted at the bottom of each page in oval shaped boxes.

Liz Curtis Higgs integrated and weaved related Biblical Scripture into the story which clarified meaning and added to the story plot helping children make deeper connections to the story. The spiritual, thoughtful messages will guide children to discover valuable moral lessons and virtues based on God's Word. The author prayed over and carefully selected each verse. I love that she shared the stories with her family first and then made them available to the world.

We immediately started reading the Pine Tree Parable which quickly became a family favorite in our home. It teaches children to give and serve others which glorifies God. This was the first time we read this story and it had such huge impact on my daughter. She decided that she wanted to give something special to someone in need. We also discussed each story and its important messages as we read it aloud. The heartfelt stories captured her attention so much so that she insisted on reading the entire treasury in one sitting. The stories are not too long or too short.

My daughter and I enjoyed reading every single parable in this treasury. The book contains truthful messages based on Scripture with eye-catching illustrations you are sure to love. We will definitely read the Pine Tree Parable every Christmas to remind ourselves the importance of giving selflessly. I can't wait to reread The Parable of the Lily during the Easter season.

The Parable Treasury would make a great Easter Basket gift for any child! I highly recommend the Parable Treasury to all families with children between the ages of 4-8. It may become a classic bedtime book in your home and you can enjoy the Christian stories year after year.

Paper Bag Book Report

Are you looking for a fun and creative literature activity?

Alyssa recently completed her Horizons Reading and Phonics curriculum so we started focusing more on reading comprehension activities. Paper Bag Book Reports were a popular activity in my classroom when I taught public school so I decided to try it with my daughter. This activity is motivating Alyssa to read literature and encouraging her to use her imagination. She is really enjoying it! She started her second paper bag book report this week immediately after presenting the first one.

Items Needed
Any Book or Story (Picture, Chapter, Fiction, Non-Fiction, Biography)
Pencil with Eraser
Crayons, Colored Pencils, or Markers
Book Report Form
Lunch Size Paper Bag
Household Items or Craft Art Supplies

Paper Bag Book Report

First, children select a book based on their interest and independent reading level. You can give younger children three options to choose from to make it a little less intimidating. Then, your child will read the book. You can read the book aloud for non-readers. They can jot down a short 1-2 sentence plot summary, brainstorm a list of relevant story items, or plan their paper bag illustrations with sketches.

Paper bag book reports may appeal to kinesthetic, hands-on learners but will also capture the interest of children with any learning style. It is a wonderful alternative to the standard book report forms your children may start to dislike or consider boring over time. They can be easily differentiated for reading levels and are adaptable for any grade level. Children can work at an individualized pace within the time period you give them to complete the project. Our assignment was very basic so the time spent on the project will vary depending on your expectations.

The paper bag activity is very versatile and can be used in several different ways:

• Focus on one story element or all of them 
• Each side of the paper bag can be dedicated to a particular story element
• Show how the character changes from the beginning to the end
• Each side of the bag can be a setting illustration
• The bagged items can represent the main idea, characters, setting, problem, solution, plot, or theme
• Use only illustrations on the bag and retell the story elements verbally using the significant items
• Require the student to type and glue written pieces on the bag
• Create or find a rubric online for grading purposes if desired. 
• Utilize this project for EACH chapter in a book or for the entire book
• Add in a vocabulary activity
• Incorporate book evaluations including the likes and dislikes of the story

Note: The possibilities are endless. What would you do?

What We Did
Alyssa (Age 7 1/2) read Jamie O'Rourke and the Pooka written by Tomie DePaola. She drew a picture of both of the main characters on the bag (front and back sides). The title and the author's name was written on the front of the bag. She was required to find 5-10 significant items related to the book and be able to explain how they were relevant to the story. We didn't focus on any story element this time around. My daughter presented her book report to me, but I may limit the presentation to 10-15 minutes next time. Alyssa wanted to tell me all of the story details during her first presentation. She included a book evaluation by telling me how many stars she gave the story and if she would recommend it to a friend.

It was a great way for me to check her understanding or comprehension of the main story elements during her retelling. It will help improve her presentation and public speaking skills. I plan on having her present the content to friends and relatives willing to listen.

BookLook Review - Brave Girls: Better Than Perfect written by Jennifer Gerelds

I love being a part of the BookLook Blogger Review Program. As soon as I saw the Brave Girls: Better Than Perfect: A 90-Day Devotional for Brave Girls Like You non-fiction book written by Jennifer Gerelds I knew that I had to review it. We already own one of the books from the series called Brave Girls Bible Stories and it was a big hit in my home.

My entire life, I've struggle with perfectionism even though I know the truth now. God doesn't expect or want us to be perfect - we are seen as perfect in His eyes since he created us in His image. Our imperfections are beautiful and unique to each one of us. We are "better than perfect" and greatly loved in God's eyes. The empowering message found in this book was one that I wanted . . . and needed my daughter to hear especially living in today's society. I want to cultivate, reinforce, and instill self-confidence in Alyssa's heart and mind. I want her to gain a sense of bravery as part of her character as she develops into a Godly woman.

How We Used It
I am using this book with my 7-year-old as part of a mother-daughter devotional during our morning Bible time. We read one devotional each day. There are lessons and truths that we will both benefit from hearing. I want to use this time together as a way to grow closer to God and one another.

My Thoughts
We ABSOLUTELY loved Brave Girls: Better Than Perfect! My favorite chapter was the first one which began with descriptions covering 15 essential truths and baffling lies we've heard or told ourselves. These important snippets will clear up any misunderstandings we may be believing in our hearts. For example, a handful of lies addressed in this book are "I need to have money to be happy," "I need to be beautiful," "I can never make mistakes," "I need to have fun all the time," "I always need to be right," and "I need for everyone to like me." After stating each lie, often with scenario examples, the truth is clearly voiced.

Each devotion begins with a Biblical referenced scripture verse that can be memorized and is relevant to the central topic. The brief one-two page devotions were stated in a straightforward manner which took very little time out of our day. The material presented was age-appropriate in with regards to content, length, and level. However, I was a little confused because the description states that it is a 90-day devotional, but there were only 86 devotions in my book.

Several interactive and engaging exercises are provided throughout the book which in some cases will help you to spend more quality family time with your daughter. The following activities can be found scattered throughout the book recipes, crafts, research, science experiments, journal entries, easy word searches, fill-ins, hands-on activities, and fun games. There are step-by-step directions and a bulleted list of materials for crafts and recipes. Not all devotions have a hands-on component. A "Write It Out" reflection accompanies each chapter and can be used as a way to apply or summarize what's been learned.

Pre-teens will find that they can relate to the material covered in this book especially when they are confronted with issues in today's society which can have a profound impact on the self-worth of a person. Many Godly character traits were addressed in this book including but not limited to joyfulness, generosity, kindness, obedience, respect, self-control, patience, wisdom, truthfulness, humility, gentleness, and gratuity.

The one or two sentence prayer pointers teach children how to build a better relationship with God through conversation. They are easy-to-read and can be restated by children leading the closing prayer.

Recommendations
I would definitely recommend Brave Girls: Better Than Perfect to pre-teen girls between the ages of 7-11. Older and younger children within the age range will find the content appealing. It guides Christian girls through a study emphasizing God's Word when we doubt who we are and who He wanted us to be. This book would be a great gift in an Easter basket or Christmas stocking.

BookLook Review: It Will Be Okay Written by Lysa TerKeurst

I'm excited about sharing my most recent review for a children's picture book titled, "It Will Be Okay: Trusting God Through Fear and Change" written by the well-known author, Lysa TerKeurst and illustrated by Natalia Moore. I was thrilled for the opportunity to read her children's book. This hardback picture book is suitable for children ages 4-8.

Whether we like it or not, growing up brings change. For many children, this conjures fears that are sometimes real and sometimes imagined. How can kids learn that even when they face new and unfamiliar situations, they don't have to be afraid?

What We Thought

I read this book to my 7-year-old daughter. I have to say . . . this 32-page book published by Thomas Nelson was meant for my daughter and I to read. With all the changes occuring in our life right now, I sometimes catch myself not putting all my trust in God. I have many fears about upcoming changes, but I am sure my daughter's fears are much bigger than my own. Alyssa and I snuggled on the bed to read this book the first day it arrived and we've read it many times since that day.

A personal letter from the author dedicated to her readers is found at the beginning of the book. I truly appreciated the memory verses mentioned in the book. I plan on eventually utilizing them in our homeschool. I will most likely create copywork pages to accompany this book in hopes that they will help my daughter memorize the verses better. I feel that these verses are extremely relevant to our circumstances right now and will be relevant to many readers as well. We are going through several big life changes and dealing with our newfound fears and turmoil on a daily basis.

My favorite Bible verse listed in this book is "So do NOT fear, for I am with you: Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." - Isaiah 41:10.

Natalia Moore's charming illustrations are sweet and absolutely adorable! You can definitely feel the bond between the two main characters and children will be able to relate to their experiences and feelings making their own connections to the story.

This touching story is about the friendship between a fox and a little seed. The book emphasizes two prominent and central themes. These changes and fears occur in their lives while God is watching over them. The book reminds children that no matter the circumstances you face or changes you face God will always be with you and there for you. The book also encourages children to put their trust in Him, because the Lord will NEVER leave or forsake us.

The Farmer represents God in this story as stated in this quote: 

"But the Farmer was good, and the Farmer was kind, and the Farmer was always watching over them. Even when they didn't know it." Notice that the word Farmer is capitalized each time which indicates or signifies that He represents God. The actions of the Farmer described are symbolic of God watching over us.

The book discusses topics such as friendship, meaningful relationships, facing fears and anxieties, adjusting to changes, and the importance of trusting God in the midst of chaotic life challenges.

Alyssa said, "This was the MOST amazing book you've ever read Mommy!" When I asked her what her favorite part was she summarized the message by saying, "That even though we're in a dark place and we're afraid . . . it'll be okay because God's always there."

There's not a thing about this book that I would change. Another aspect of the book that I like is that it features the seasonal changes of a tree. The lifecycle of a seed growing into a tree was depicted throughout several different seasons. As a home educator and certified elementary teacher, I love seeing books that add in science concepts. A science activity could be easily be created and used after reading this book.

Recommendations

I HIGHLY recommend this book for Christian grandparents, parents, and Sunday school teachers! It would be a perfect gift for children dealing with stressful situations, fears, and big changes. It is one of the best children's picture books I've read with a meaningful message that will benefit both children and adults. Younger children may not be able to sit for the longer pages therefore I suggest summarizing the main points on each page with children under age 4. My daughter asks to read this book quite often. The book is a gem that I'm happy to add to our home library.

BookCrash Review: The First Christmas retold by Janice D. Green

I recently reviewed The First Christmas as retold by Janice D. Green with illustrations by the talented Violet Vandor. I strive to focus on the birth of Jesus during the Christmas season. I'm already preparing for Christmas by reading and choosing books for my Christmas Book Tree Advent Countdown which is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. I also try to tie in an activities related to the story read aloud. Let me tell you about a book I reviewed that includes both a familiar story we must all hear and a fun activity that'll engage your child.

The First Christmas, by Janice Green and illustrated by Violet Vandor, tells the account of the birth of Jesus Christ. Adults and children alike will enjoy snuggling up to share these thirteen colorful scenes and the engaging discussion questions as this timeless story unfolds. Even older readers may be surprised to learn something new as they read again of the Messiah's birth.

My Thoughts
The 32-page paperback book gives a well-written, detailed, and complete account of the Nativity Story. The message is one that has been heard by many over the years but is of great importance for all children. I really appreciated the italicized conversation starters or questions found on each page that enable the parent to check their child's understanding following each section of the story. These questions will help you interact and engage with your child and help them focus on key topics. The questions help children make personal connections to their lives and feelings in relation to the story. For example, the author asks the child in the book "How do you think Mary and Joseph felt to have to walk or ride a donkey for days? Can you think of a time when you were very tired but you couldn't stop and rest?" The questions will spark a conversation and get the child thinking about their lives.

The lovely illustrations are simple and suitable for all children. There are not any inappropriate or violent illustrations in this retelling. There is a relevant illustration on the left side of each two-page spread of the story.

I love books that include meaningful activities within the pages of the book. This children's book concludes with a Bible Quilt activity that reinforces the truths from the Bible. The First Christmas coloring pages for the family activity are found on the publisher's website, however they are not FREE. They cost $1.50 for a PDF downloadable file which is reasonably priced considering the memories and possible traditions you'll create with your family. I do feel that it would be in the best interest of the author to offer these coloring pages FREE to individuals that purchase the book. This could be done using a special link and/or password added at the front of the book.

I would like to note that this book begins not with the angel's announcement to Mary, but that it begins with Gabriel's visit to Zachariah and Elizabeth about the birth of John the Baptist. You'll hear about Mary and Joseph's visits from the Angel, Mary's visit with her cousin Elizabeth, their travels to Bethlehem, the discussion with the innkeeper, Jesus's birth, the angel's visit with the shepherds, and lastly the journey of the Three Wise Men as captured in 13 colorful scenes depicting this retelling of Jesus's birth.

A small suggestion to the author would be to capitalize any words or phrases that reference God or Jesus. Another minor suggestion would be to make the story more concise for younger readers who may not be able to sit still for long time periods. It may be a little too wordy for readers in the youngest age group.

Recommendations
I recommend this delightful book to Christian families with children in preschool through early elementary ages 4-12. You could read the book as part of your morning devotions or bedtime read aloud during the Christmas season. I will be giving this book to my daughter for Christmas this year. You could even break the story up over several days reading a little each day to make it easier on younger children. It would make a perfect Christmas gift for relatives and friends. There's a good chance that this book may become a tradition if you enjoy reading Christmas stories every year. I know every year we enjoy telling the story of Jesus's birth. If you do too, then this read aloud book can be added to your collection. You may even want to share this title with the Children's Ministry staff members at your church or even with grandparents.

B&H Publishing Review: My Christmas List Written By Amy Parker

I had the honor of reviewing My Christmas List written by Amy Parker for B and H Publishing: Every Word Counts. Christmas is right around the corner! Can you believe it's only 3 months away? I am already reading Christmas books trying to decide which ones I will give as Christmas gifts and which ones I will use as part of my Christmas Book Tree Advent Countdown. This book will definitely be considered for our book tree countdown activity this year.  

The book developed after a baffling discussion Amy had with her friend, Frederick, living in Rwanda. She found out that day that people in Rwanda don’t make Christmas lists. They focus on giving rice to the needy and making church offerings. Her book is a great way to spread awareness of the needs of others. 

How do you celebrate Christmas? Have you ever thought about how it might be for children in other countries around the world? Have you discussed it with your children? This book may help you explain the needs of others to your children during the Christmas season. 

The hardcover children's book contains 28 pages with illustrations created by Daniel Fernandez which show familiar celebratory family traditions such as decorating the house with Christmas lights, watching a nativity play, eating a feast, singing Christmas carols, reading holiday stories, and helping others. This Christian rhyming picture book has a simple, clear message that I believe all children must and should hear at some point in their lives. The story focuses on a young boy as the narrator and main character who is preparing a Christmas list. However, his Christmas list may be different from those you typically would see at Christmas time. His letter is addressed to God instead of to Santa Claus which is one of the reasons why I appreciate this book. At the very beginning of the book, the boy states . . . 

"Dear God, this year I’m changing things–
Instead of toys and lots of stuff,
I want Christmas for the whole wide world,
Especially those without enough."

On each two-page spread, the main character asks God for items or things that will bless and change the world around him. His Christmas list is one that focuses on and emphasizes helping others especially those in need. The author mentions one or two countries per two-page spread. This is a great way for homeschool families to integrate geography into holiday lessons. Alyssa will locate the following places mentioned in the book on both a map and a globe. She will also write her own "Christmas List" letter to God. I hope that after reading this book she'll be encouraged to organize more service learning projects on her own. The boy asks God to help others understand why God gave us Christmas day. This book reveals the true reason why we should celebrate Christmas. It states the importance of how Jesus was a Savior for Earth which began with His birth. 

The unnamed boy makes a commitment to do his part in making the world a better place by giving Christmas to everyone. His Christmas list isn’t a never-ending list of toys - his list comes straight from his heart. Watch the book trailer below if this sounds like a story you'd like to share with your children, 

What I Liked
One of my favorite parts of the book is the “Parent Connection“ Christmas list activity found at the back of the book which consists of a Bible verse to memorize (Matthew 25:40), a Scripture parable to read from the Bible (Luke 10: 25-37), and five reflective discussion questions. Then, your child has the opportunity to make a Christmas list focusing on at least five groups of people in need. After creating your list, you’ll pray for those individuals. I can think of many other extension activities for the holiday using this book. 

The book makes a point that we should all consider during the holiday season:

"As a kid, sometimes it can seem difficult to make a big difference, but watch for the people God sends your way. You may be surprised at how much of a difference those two little hands can make." 

Another book feature that I enjoyed was viewing the back and front inside covers of the book which contained photographs and captions indicating “Worldly Christmas List” suggestions given by others. The suggestions state a few of our favorite activities including Operation Christmas Child, Christmas Carols at Nursing Homes, Clothes for Families in Need, Homeless Bags, and Stockings for Soldiers. This book encourages not only helping those in need during Christmas but helping ALL year long.

Recommendation
I highly recommend My Christmas List to anyone that has children especially within the 4-8 age range. However, you may want to consider whether or not your child will be overly sensitive when reading about the needs of others around the world. 

This book will add more meaning to the Christmas holiday and season. I am always looking for high quality Christian books to read during the holidays and this book made our list. I plan on using this book as a tool at the end of November and throughout the month of December hoping to inspire and motivate my daughter to think about others in need as we partake in traditional service learning projects during the holiday season. I truly want her to focus on what she can do for others rather than her personal desires and wants.

I adore reading Christian picture books. I recently had the opportunity to review My Child, My Princess: A Parable About the King written by best-selling author, Beth Moore, as part of B&H Publishing Group's book review program.

Beth Moore has written many best-selling books. She's a dynamic teacher and a prolific Bible-study author whose public speaking engagements take her across the United States to challenge tens of thousands. Beth is focused on teaching women all over the world and is known and respected wherever she goes. She leads Living Proof Ministries in Houston, Texas and teaches an adult Sunday school class at her church.

Book Description

This book is a re-release of Beth Moore's first children's book. The main character struggles with the responsibilities and privileges of being a princess and not wanting to be one. She feels like she doesn't have any freedom. In this story, the princess was asked to clean her room. She couldn't understand why she had to pick up after herself. She felt like her father wasn't paying enough attention to her, because he was busy with "other" important business. The princess is so upset with his request to clean her room that she decides to disobey him. She said, "I'll show him." She disguised herself in old clothes dressed as a peasant and ran away from the castle through secret door exit. The princess enjoyed playing stickball with the other children in the muddy neighborhood streets. She was thrilled to have fun and be "just like them." The other children begin disrespecting her father by spitting spitballs at him during the King's special appearance on the main street. The princess begins to understand that she made a terrible mistake and wonders if her father will ever forgive her behavior. Her heart fills with guilt, horror, and shame. 

Our Thoughts
My Child, My Princess would be categorized as a fairytale genre beginning with the ever popular "Once upon a time" story opener. It is a tender-hearted story with an absolutely gorgeous cover. This 32-page hardcover book contains Beverly Warren's beautiful Medieval illustrations. The message was clearly stated in the book. The lesson theme emphasizes forgiveness, patience, acceptance, and unconditional love. It reminds us that our Heavenly Father will always love and accept us no matter what. The book's message contains a powerful lesson written in parable format stating that every girl is a princess or child of the one true King (Jesus/God). 

My 6 1/2 year-old daughter enjoyed reading and hearing this story read aloud before bedtime. There is some mention of disobedience, rebellion, name calling, and teasing that you may want to discuss with your child as you read the book aloud. I wanted to make sure that my daughter knew it wasn't safe to runaway from home. I also wanted her to feel good as the person God intended her to be. We discussed the importance of rules and why children must obey their parents.

I loved the fact that the princess confesses and admits what she's done wrong in her apology to her father with sincere feelings. I also appreciate that the book focuses on how the King reassures her that there will be times when she will break his heart, but that he will open the door EVERY time she knocks. The book ends with a scripture reference, Matthew 25:34, which relates to the story's plot. Overall, the book is a heartwarming tale that will instill values and character traits which will help your child grow up to be a princess of God's heart.

Recommendations
I recommend this picture book for children ages 4 to 8. I believe older girls will find this book of particular interest. The underlying Christian message may be a little too complex for children at the younger age range especially if the message is not discussed and explained. However, this children's story or allegory is suitable for ALL ages. Adults will surely enjoy reading this book aloud to their children. This would make a precious gift or keepsake gem for any child. I was thinking to would also be a great party favor or story to read aloud at a princess themed birthday party.

Review of The Easterville Miracle by Melody Carlson

I was sent the book titled, The Easterville Miracle, to review as part of the book review program through Broadman and Holman Publishing Group. I don't know about you, but I am always on the lookout for great holiday gift books. I search for Bible-centered books with age appropriate content. This book fits the bill. The Easterville Miracle is a 32-page children's hardcover book written by Melody Carlson that should definitely be considered as an Easter gift option. Another popular and well-loved Easter book written by this author is Benjamin's Box: The Story of the Resurrections Eggs.

My Thoughts
I enjoy reading books to my daughter that emphasize the true meaning of Easter rather than simply focusing on Easter eggs and bunnies. I was ecstatic when I found out this book could be added to my collection of Easter books, because it does focus on the real reason for celebrating Easter.

The brightly colored cover invites the reader to open the book to Susan Reagan's sweet illustrations. The illustrations added meaning to the text. The illustrator made use of the space with full page illustrations. You could feel the confusion Sam felt through his words and the illustrations helped you see it on his face. The rhyming text of the story immediately captured the attention of my six-year-old daughter keeping her completely engaged in the story's plot. I often paused momentarily to give my daughter time to figure out the upcoming rhyming words.

The setting of the story occurs in a quaint town called Easterville, but unfortunately the townsfolk are having a difficult time remembering how and why the town was given that particular name. The Easter celebration became a huge event every year. The children dressed up for the occasion, colorful eggs were displayed, fluffy stuffed bunnies sat in storefront windows, delicious shaped chocolates stood in rows, and beautiful baskets adorned with bows were exhibited in the town stores. The townspeople believed they were in fact celebrating Easter the right way. For some reason, the holiday became more and more hectic over the years. Sam decided to seek help. He wanted to find an answer to the question he'd asked everyone he knew, "What is the point of Easter? The cause for all we do." He truly believed that there must be a reason for the things they did to mark the Easter season. An older woman tells him "Back when I was a little girl, it wasn't quite this way. It seems that something has been lost about this holiday." The woman suggests that Sam visit an older man named Henry who lives at the top of the hill. He feels reassured and makes the trip up the hill hoping to find answers.

Sam helps Henry create a plan to share the truth with the townspeople which in turn helps awaken their hearts and minds enabling them to see the truth once again. "And look at how it glistens just like diamonds in the sun!" I loved the descriptive language utilized which helps the reader visualize the image on the page.

I am not going to spoil the end by telling you what happens. You'll have to read the book to find out what the crowd of whispering townsfolk are talking about. What was Sam and Henry's plan?

Sam's strong desire to figure out the reason they celebrate Easter lead to the truth which left the townspeople eager to hear an unforgettable story year after year. I can relate to Sam's feelings, because many people in our society have truly forgotten why we actually celebrate Easter even though there's nothing wrong with bunnies and eggs. Commercialism has distracted us from focusing on Jesus. We don't eliminate the Easter egg hunts or Easter baskets from our traditions, but we do emphasize the "real" reason in many ways. We should celebrate Jesus, His sacrifice for us, and the forgiveness of our sins. Your children will learn about God's love, grace, and forgiveness. They will find out the purpose of Easter. My favorite part of the story is when Henry tells the story to Sam on page 20.

The book ends with a scripture reference to John 3:16 (NIV) stating "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." This familiar and appropriate verse was the perfect way to end the story, because it helps readers focus on the true meaning of Easter which was Jesus's resurrection and His sacrifice for our sins.

I recommend this book for children ages 4-8. It would make a great Easter basket gift or can be used as a read aloud. The book emphasizes the Christian perspective and reasons for celebrating Easter. I believe Christian readers will appreciate the message of the story. Sunday school and private school teachers will be pleased with this book. Home and private school educators can easily tie in religious Easter crafts to this story. The Easterville Miracle will help you shift the attention to the true meaning of Easter.
